black and gold

First regular posting fail for 2013! I've now come to realise the combination of starting a weekend job at the same time as Fashion Week was not the best timing!

In this busy time of absent blogging I still maintained my regular inspirational gazing through pinterest and instagram and one that caught my eye that the beauty world is again taking inspiration from was the 1950's. Be it strong brows, or contemporary coifs I have enjoyed playing around with my own modern take on the classic and feminine looks that are popping up on the runways around the world. And in this case I accessorised with these killer cat eye shades, these were the perfect statement piece against a somewhat understated outfit. Ok, its not that understated but that's the best word I could come up with that relates to an all black outfit!

I was instantly drawn to each of these pieces for their feminine and playful use of sheer vs solid fabrics. Almost like the mullet, business up top, party at the bottom! Wow, did I really just write that? Anyways wearing hints of sheer for me, was a refreshing approach and a big trend that I will be rocking til next season especially after seeing these glorious pieces at the Serpent and The Swan show at Fashion Week.

So I know I said my glasses were a statement piece, they definitely are but I feel like my eyes are going crossed eyes when I look back at these shots as both the glasses and the shoes are like heeey let me be the stand-out! These are the first pair of Jessica Simpson heels I've worn and I am over the moon with the latest range. So many colours, prints and plenty of interesting takes on the staple pump or wedge shape. In this case these geometrical wooden wedges with a black mirror like structure under the arch really are quite distinct and unlike any wedge I've seen recently, so props to you Jess...

Take your pick, I can't decide which statement is the loudest today! Is there a rule for how many?

rays

Wearing - Top and Skirt: Kookai, Heels: StyleTread
Photos By: Josh Groom

Whenever I wear green or close to my favourite shade of green in a post I tend to start gushing about how much I love it and the feeling I get from wearing it! This time really won't be any different, except I'm also overjoyed with the afternoon glow that we managed to capture. Working in the natural light is always so hit and miss and the golden afternoon rays framing every shot and streaming through my hair captured my lime green perfectly!

You guys may or not gather already that I am a big Kookai lover. This outfit is all about my go-to style at the moment: matching sets, geo prints, light palettes and of course my greens! Hence bright white heels, all the rage at the moment with my StyleTread white patent and rose gold detailed heels worked perfectly. In fact, these are one of those wear with anything non stop this season kinda shoe!

I'll see you in my next post for more afternoon glow, summery inspiration and incessant wind in the hair.

jacaranda trees

Wearing - Shirt: The Eleventh Hour, Pants: Ellison, Heels: Kookai
Photos By: Demi Brooker

Did I mention that I love floral print? Pretty sure you would know by now! Especially paired with my iridescent white shirt. Don’t think the camera quite picks it up but it’s a great feminine fun twist on a tailored white button down.

The purples and greys perfectly complements Spring’s Jacaranda trees. These delicate blossoms literally covered every car and was flooded in this Surry Hills back alley. A dream shot of mine was to create a shower of flowers as they descend defocused in the background. Many attempts of poking and prodding the branches took place with a failed result of a few measly flowers falling out. But hey we tried, I’m sure plenty more opportunities of creating a dream scenic moment will come up, flowers and floral print included.

mint point

Wearing- Top: Dotti, Necklace: Kookai, Pants: Thurley, Heels: Peeptoe Shoes
Shot By: Josh Groom

Bet you can't guess what my favourite colour is?! Yeah its written alllll over me. Squealed on the inside when I came across these Thurley pants at my local David Jones. Speaking of squealing, me, once again as those giant waves came crashing behind me.

Was a total fluke styling together the double pleatage (yeah I make up words)! I was going to wear a different top entirely and after digging this out of my wardrobe it was a clear winner to trick the eye and exaggerate the pleat lines lines from top to toe. For those on the shorter side I highly recommend.

With such a stunning, picturesque day it it felt amazing to finally soak up the sun and sea air. Topping it all off with my favourite mint green and a pair of gorgeous light Thurley pants destined for Spring/ Summer can't get any better than that! Well done, we did it we survived Winter! If I could add in the sun's rays, sound effects of the waves, the wind and the squeals I totally would... hmmm scratch that last one

Colour Crushing: Citrus

Citrus Burst

Wearing- Top and Skirt Kookai, Necklace: Lovisa, Heels Peep Toe Shoes, Clutch: vintage

Taking advantage of the last few morsels of sun that we have left, I jumped at putting together my favourite citrus shaded items. Just because the colder months are around the corner doesn't mean you have to automatically revert to darker tones. Whether its a pair of citrus fresh earrings, popping ankle boots or even just a juicy coating of nail polish; incorporating lemon and orange tones into my outfit always puts a smile on my face :)

galaxy glimmer

Wearing- Dress: Kookai, Belt: a boutique in Madrid can't recall the name , Flats: Topshop, Ring: Dorothy Perkins
Shot by Josh Groom

Maxi dresses, the best thing to throw on when you have absolutely no time to scour through your wardrobe and even better when you feel like being comfortable and fuss free! I added a little belt to avoid looking like a flat ironing board and decided to amp up the comfort factor even further by wearing flats.

Kookai has as an array of gorgeous acid bright, galactic printed dresses at the moment. Pair your galactic bright's with neautral accessories, a mono toned cropped blazer, a killer clutch and you're off to the moon!

Don't forget to subscribe and like my FB page. I'll be uploading a 'Behind the scenes' video very soon.. so excited! :)
