Give-Away time!

Gemme Sorbet is just past its 6 month Birthday, so I thought to celebrate I will host my FIRST give away! I've teamed up with High Street UK brand Warehouse who have launched their Australian online store featuring their gorgeous new collection! Expect some classic, cool, fun and feminine pieces ladies!

This sequined, magenta/ hot pink number is from their 'Special Occasion' collection but I decided to dress it down for a day look. Keeping in theme with Spring/ Summer I went a bit crazy with the accessories with accenting neon and fluro colours and chucked on a blue denim jacket - which is always the easiest piece to style with when I'm not feeling super girly. But of course I've ended up a walking contradiction once again by finishing the look off with hot pink and baby blue Malibu Barbie-esque wedges!

paradise bush

People look at me weird or think I'm exaggerating when I say I live in the bush. Well here's the proof! My Dad recently purchased a new camera, he wanted to test it out and I've wanted to shoot this bird of paradise skirt in a beautiful afternoons sunlight for ages! I still live at home with my family and since this little blog I have never thought to shoot right in my front yard. This bush has many memories of cricket, hand ball, hide n seek, bike rides and pretending to be stone cutters...

Keeping with the nature theme I went sans footwear and makeup. Pretty scary looking at all the photos afterwards, Dad is obsessed with taking close ups! I don't think I've shot with him since I was about 14 when I needed photos for a handful of meetings to try and sign with a modelling agency. Those photos are good and buried probably inside a sunflower and dolphin adorned photo album that will never see the light of day. They were shot right in this very spot with a gangly and awkward me wearing a padded bra trying to look like a woman and having no idea how to pose - and a father trying to direct a stubborn, moody teenager!

Ten years later not much has changed still stubborn, still a bit moody and still gangly BUT you won't catch me trying to pad out my bra no more! As I've grown and matured I have learnt to be confident and be happy with what you were given :)

Popping + collars

Wearing- Top: Ladakh, skirt, shoes and bag: vintage

The Peter Pan collar is still going strong from SS11 and is still being seen in high street stores and celebrities. I love this 'Ladakh' top, it's versatility makes it so easy to wear and the unique lace print set off with the adorable school girl crisp white collar adds that little something extra to any outfit.

Adding a pop of colour is always guaranteed to add some fun and spice to your day and red has always been my go to for that. This vintage skirt is so comfy and can be dressed up or down. I decided to dress semi casually today so I teamed it with my fail safe vintage lace up ankle boots.

Finally the piece de resistance is my favourite vintage bag. Everywhere she goes she receives the "Oh my god where did you get that?! "I LOVE your bag" comments and deservingly so she really is to die for with the thick leather and suede fringing, gold studs and red and grey accents! You'll be seeing more of her I'm sure in future outfit posts to come!

My make-up was kept neutral with a nude lip teamed with a defined eye and lashes. Huge thanks and props to make-up artist Steffi who is studying at ACMUSE  :)

vintage heaven

I had my first trip to Europe over Christmas and was anticipating the vintage shopping for months! Countless day dreams were running through my head of rows and rows of glorious mohair knits, glow mesh, layer upon layer of lace and rich leather hand bags! I tell you my fantasies came to reality when I made that first turn through Notting Hill to Portobello Markets.

I don't even think we made it to every store! These vintage stores are of course not your local Salvos or Vinnies! These vintage gems are boasting designers including YSL, Dior, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, CHANEL.. 'nuff said. So with names like these you're thinking they'd cost a bomb right? Wrong! Most of the store's prices were reasonably priced. Average price for a pair of Jimmy Choos or Manolo Blankick were 200 odd pounds and in top condition. Of course if you were to pick up a a staple, classic  piece such as a mint condition leather coat you are of course going to see prices from 400 up!

I was salivating to buy a fur but with the amount of shopping I had already done I knew there was nooo way I could push my luggage weight limit as it was! I ended up with some cute handmade rings and my ultimate pin up art posters :)

Special mention to my darling cousin for showing me around the exuberance of Portobello Markets. Could so go for those darling cupcakes again!
