How to dress for AW12 + David Jones new season launch

David Jones held their 'Fall' (when did we stop saying Autumn?!) launch last night and Miranda Kerr graced the catwalk for the latest in Australian Designs. She wore pieces by Dion Lee, Josh Goot, Kirrily Johnston and Willow to name a few. Models traipsed the runway in seas of jewel bright tones, geometric prints, midi lenths and glamorous 20's finger waves.

For the girly girls we're seeing a lot of paisley and floral prints and demure hemlines. Colour will still be big with neon yellows, violets, and fuschia. There was plenty of pretty separates going around with floatng silk and some sporadic lame and mesh for good measure. Collections feautred an array of feminine blouse, pencil skirts, floaty frills, sheer layering and high collars and necklines.

The colder months aren't going to be your typical navy's, taupes and charcoals so keep your wardrobe alive and experiment with the fun colours set to hit the stores! Stock up for the season with lace and sheer layers. A style of note, wearing nude slips under sheer black and lace a la Miranda below in Collette Dinnigan. Try this to soften your look and instantly inject a lady like touch to your outfit. Shoulders are still strong and boots will still be sky high. Cynched in waists, panelled belts and harnesses will be prevalent.

We're borrowing from the 70's and the man style for women with wide leg pants, chinos, smart wool blazers and the power suit. Miranda below is wearing this super chic wool Tuxedo by Josh Goot. Follow suit (sorry haha) by investing in wardrobe staples like a structred white shirt and a well fitted blazer. Pieces such as these really are an investment as it will last you for seasons to come.

For a bit of wardrobe cred and edge bombers jackets and leather will keep you warm this winter as well as the updated trench, longer a-line and bright billowing coats.

That's all from me on trends for next season! What trends are you excited to try?
